bless this post.
#i know this is because they wanted to make odin more like the dick he is in the comics#and they wanted to make it clear that odin was not noble like thor#but jfc i have to do a lot of mental backflips to get these to work together#and all i can come up with is that odin is SO infuriated and devestated by the loss of loki#loki whom he loved (and probably still loves even under the fury) is so determined to be horrible#and sometimes you lose your shit the most over the ones you love the most#and odin’s getting old and he’s SO angry about loki and how much he wanted for that precious squish he couldn’t let die#that it comes out in this really vile way#and yet i know that’s not what the writers were going for#BUT FUCK YOU I LOVE ODIN AS ACTUALLY LOVING HIS LITTLE SHIT SON#just that they’re too alike and their anger is the RAZE IT TO THE GROUND AND SALT THE EARTH type
Is it wrong to enjoy your own tags? Either way, I enjoy having them properly on my blog.
I hate them both so muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch.
Look, Kooey, let’s see it like this: Loki does take after Daddy, even if the both of them wouldn’t exactly be ready to admit it. You saw his reaction to learning about his Secret Origins. One could say disproportion runs in the family, and one would not be wrong. Also, cosmic whims. Cosmic.
Odin is not the best father of the multiverse, and I’m rather inclined to believe he is not used to having many people (apart from Frigga?), er, remotely disagreeing with him.
He is very, very angry, and very, very vexed about Loki’s behaviour, not just the slaughtering-innocents stuff, but also and above all the fact that both his sons now have alerted the clueless Midgardians about Asgard’s actual existence.
Incidentally—sorry Loki apologists—last time Odin “saw” his second son, it was when he tried to kill his first son. Twice. He did actually succeed once, you know. Loki’s attitude upon his triumphant return may not help his cause too much.
Those people can live for over 5,000 years, I think that Odin’s wrath is accommodating itself very well of Loki wasting a few in prison until the dust settles and Frigga convinces him somehow to alleviate the penance.
I’m sorry but I’m still more concerned about the fact Loki brushes off the killing and property damage with a smirk. I want a .gif montage of him being slapped again.
Loki and Odin are extremely similar. Not least in their tendency to attempt to externalise pain; thankfully Thor (mostly) missed their shared idea that hurting other people makes it stop hurting you. Possibly additionally the idea that disowning someone breaks your emotional bonds with them and that works especially well if you do it first. Also and linked, an inability to accept responsibility for anything. Moreover there’s that firm belief in Asgardian superiority. Plus a complete level of acceptance of sacrificing your own people if necessary to achieve an overall goal. On top of the fact neither copes well with any sort of disagreement with others which links into their inability to take advice or see other’s opinions or aspersions against their name or honour. To boot both of them have a tendency towards frankly not particularly brilliant plans with a tendency to be very reactive and make sudden decisions off that.
Also, a soft spot for Frigga but that sounds rather Oedipal in context.
Loki made his own choices and his actions are his own but there’s a lot of shared mentality between the two. For all Loki may have been her favourite Thor got a lot more of Frigga’s characteristics to balance Odin out than Loki did.
Honestly I don’t think anything Odin did in this scene was unprovoked or unacceptable given Loki’s actions. Now, the part of me that suggests locking Loki up forever is impractical and that he needs to deal with his issues in order to be rehabilitated does think that maybe some cell visits and him actually attempting to talk to Loki rather than this points scoring match might be rather useful done that line, but in his situation his actions are pretty understandable.
That said, of all Loki’s actions, I’m not sure alerting Midgard to Asgard’s existence is the really the one to hold against him, not exiling Thor there might have been a good start actually.
is that boromir?
why woULD YOU SAY THAT
jim fucking carrey
jim fucking carrey
I love Jim Carrey. I once met him in a 7/11, and I was getting a soda, I turned and saw it was him, and he saw I was going for a Doctor Pepper, so he said “Oh did you want one of these”, to which I stuttered out a yes and he grabbed all of them and said “too bad” and brought them up to the front. Then he bought his stuff and left the sodas there, and left. Almost immediately after, he ran back in and began putting the sodas back and paid for mine.
READ THE LAST ONE OUT LOUD
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
I’m not really psyched for the Xbox One, but this is one of the best commercials I’ve seen in a while.
I enjoy reading the youtube comments. So many guys being pissing into the air about the female being the dominant one.
From what I got out of this, the XBOX One is showing that, with ownership of the xbox, you get power to command and control - it recognizes voice commands and faces. The boyfriend obeying her was a part of that theme - because she owns the xbox, she has control.
“I hope THIS CONSOLE FAILS!!! What a bunch of feminazi BS to appeal to women, Xbox doesn’t care about true gamers anymore, they want to appeal to the family/ casual gamers… They’re pulling a Wii, and they probably will crash and burn with this console… They’re trying to get lots of people to buy this and for the hardcore community to get them sales for their games… YOU CAN’T APPEAL TO EVERYONE!!!”
This ad is ridiculous.
It falls into the same old trap of thinking that in order to make a girl a “gamer” you have to make her hyper-masculine.
Excuse you, do you see the highlights in her hair? Her dress? Those silver shoes? Her beautiful-ass face? That is NOT the image of a hyper-masculine woman. We’d be seeing a lot more plaid and sweatpants if they were trying to make her masculine. She drinks beer, yes. She expects to be obeyed, yes. Those are not purely masculine traits.
And the comments continue to become more violent and disgusting toward the woman, and insulting toward Microsoft.
What do you think?
I think that the sheer vitriol is almost enough to make me want to buy an Xbox, just to terrify and frighten the fedora-wearing douchebro crowd.
Fortunately, the Xbox is pricy and I don’t want the Kinect watching me sleep, so it won’t happen, but still.
Delicious, delicious mantears.
Dear Gamers: If you want people to take you seriously and stop treating you like you’re all immature children, stop behaving that way.
No don’t even call them gamers. Gamers are people who appreciate games and their consoles because of the QUALITY OF THE GAMES. They DO NOT discriminate between the sexes. They understand that women are just as capable of thoroughly enjoying a well-developed game as men. Anyone who whines because she’s a woman isn’t a gamer. He’s a sexist pig.
How exactly did Rue end up on that stage with nothing but the wind offering to take her place?
I need to look at this at least 5 minutes everyday for the rest of my life and my life will be better for this.
EVERYBODY DANCE NOW
I may or may not have drawn a series of Edgar Allan Poe cartoon portraits and put it on my english teachers office door….
